5-year-old Senior Kindergarten

Age requirement:

  • Children must be five years old by August 15th of the school year you wish to attend.   
  • Children must have a positive recommendation from CLC 4-year-old Junior Kindergarten teacher to enter Senior Kindergarten. 
  • Children new to Central Learning Center must pass an entrance assessment administered at Central Learning Center.  To make an appointment for an entrance assessment click here.


  • 5 Sr. Kindergarten is for children who are 5-years-old and are ready to attend a structured program. Children are expected to stay together academically as they advance through the year.  All of the students are working on mastering the same concepts and moving on to the next to reach a specific goal at the end of the year. Students who satisfactorily complere this program will advance to 1st grade. 


  • Classroom hours are from 8:15 A.M. to 3:15 P.M. Monday through Friday.  A teacher is in the classroom by 8:00 A.M. Car Line is from 3:00 P.M. to 3:15 P.M.
  • A Before and After Care Program is available for children who need care before or after the classroom hours. 
  • Sr. Kindergarten uses the Abeka Curriculum which allows for both structured and independant academic learning experiences. 
  • Daily small-group time allows structured learning time with a teacher to practice weekly curriculum skills and concepts.
  • Students attend enrichment classes which include Art, Spanish, Music, and Library. 
  • Children have unstructured playtime daily where they utilize either our indoor or outdoor playground.
  • We provide a morning snack with milk, and also provide milk at lunch. However, parents are to provide a ready-to-eat lunch each day for their child. We do not heat or refridgerate lunches. Students enrolled in our After-Care Program will be ofference and after snack with juice every day.


  • Our classroom has a maximum of twenty children, a lead teacher, and an assistant teacher.

  • This classroom is set up with the following centers to allow for independent exploration and play:

-Art      -Books/Quiet Area

-Computer      -Fine Motor/Manipulatives

-Science      -Sensory Table

-Writing     -Dramatic Play
